do you want to hear a ghost story?
Once upon a time, there was a man who thought he could control his fate.
They say that witches whispered in his ear. They say he bragged that he could outwit nature. They say it isn't safe to speak his name.
But you shouldn't believe everything you hear.
Gather round this winter, for the truth behind the legend of the mad king of Scotland and his beloved queen. We promise to give you the whole story—if you're very, very sure you want to know.
In the meantime, tell yourself that you would never make his mistakes. Tell yourself that he was just a monster. Just a madman who was doomed from the beginning.
That's much less scary than what really happened.
And we wouldn't want you to have trouble sleeping.
We’re thrilled to return to the stage this winter with a gory, horrifying tale of murder and madness! (Come on—you know that's an irresistible sales pitch.) We have a stellar cast—led by audience favorites Zachary Clark and Charlotte Blacklock—and our usual era-appropriate costumes and live swordfighting.
If you’ve attended our productions before, we’re so glad you’ve stayed with us; we're deeply grateful for your ongoing support…not to mention, relieved that we didn’t permanently traumatize you with our Othello! (And, in case those of you who saw our history plays are wondering: yes, of course the severed head is back.)
If this is your first time joining us: welcome! Whether you’re a first-time theatergoer, a Shakespeare expert, or anything in between, this production is designed for you. Our mission is to tell vivid, enthralling stories by focusing on Shakespeare’s original intentions; we trust the text, keep the narrative clear, and prioritize three-dimensional characterization.
So, come be our guests in 11th-century Scotland this winter! The king is mad, the weather is awful, and the trees may or may not be alive. You're going to love it here.
we're all trapped in here together now
